Ghostbusters Star Leslie Jones Leaves Twitter After Shocking Racist Abuse
"I feel like I'm in a personal hell..."
Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones has quit Twitter after receiving a barage of vile, racist abuse with some even comparing her to Harambe, the gorilla shot dead recently in Cincinnati Zoo when a child entered its enclosure.
We won't dignify the disgusting behaviour by repeating the worst of it, but in the awful and frankly bewildering online attack, the actress spent hours fending off racist tweets from users plus being subjected to accounts posting fake tweets indicating she had tweeted homophobic comments.
Leslie fired back with: "You think calling me a gorilla is funny you're sick. And very very sad. You must hate yourself to put out that kind of hate" and telling users she'd "been called Apes, sent pics of their asses, even got a pic with semen on my face"
Leslie however decided to retire from the service with her last tweet reading: "I leave Twitter tonight with tears and a very sad heart. All this cause I did a movie. You can hate the movie but the sh*t I got today...wrong".
