Ghostbusters Star Leslie Jones Leaves Twitter After Shocking Racist Abuse

"I feel like I'm in a personal hell..."

'Ghostbusters' star Leslie Jones has quit Twitter after receiving a barage of vile, racist abuse with some even comparing her to Harambe, the gorilla shot dead recently in Cincinnati Zoo when a child entered its enclosure.

We won't dignify the disgusting behaviour by repeating the worst of it,butin the awful and frankly bewilderingonline attack, the actress spent hours fending off racist tweets from users plus beingsubjected to accounts posting fake tweets indicating she had tweeted homophobic comments.

Leslie fired back with: "You think calling me a gorilla is funny you're sick. And very very sad. You must hate yourself to put out that kind of hate" and telling users she'd "been called Apes, sent pics of their asses, even got a pic with semen on my face"

Leslie howeverdecided to retire from the service with herlast tweet reading: "I leave Twitter tonight with tears and a very sad heart. All this cause I did a movie. You can hate the movie but the sh*t I got today...wrong".

In response to Leslie's departure various celebs aired their support for the comedian.

Star Wars actor John Boyega tweeted: "Don't let them stop you!"

…while Jaime King told her "you are so loved."

Plus 'Hunger Games' actress Elizabeth Banks put it plainly with "Simply, I love you"
