They’re one of the hottest celebrity couples around right now, but things weren’t always smooth sailing for Joe Jonas and Gigi Hadid.

Even though it feels like these two and their beautiful genetics were MADE to date each other, the supermodel has actually revealed that she turned Joe down the first time he asked her out… When she was thirteen.

Let us set the scene. It’s the 2010 Grammys, and Gigi is on the red carpet with her parents (because she IS thirteen, after all).

Elsewhere on the carpet is Joe, who’s posing with his brothers Nick and Kevin because hey, they’re the Jonas Brothers.

Clearly, fate brought the two together for their first meeting, but Gigi wasn’t having it, telling fans on Periscope: “He asked me to a baseball game, and I said ‘no.'

Don’t fret though, GI Joe shippers, it wasn’t even because she didn’t fancy him.

She added: “I was so nervous. I literally didn’t even know what it meant to hang out with a boy.

“And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn’t want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, ‘No, maybe next time’.”

After Joe slipped Gigi’s mum his number (we assume for Gigi, but who REALLY knows), the model said the two were friends since… “Except now. We’re more than friends, obvs.”

Well there you go. Basically a real life fairytale.
