Yolanda Hadid Responds To Rebecca Romijn’s Comments About Gigi Hadid And Kendall Jenner
It's Twitter beef o'clock
Rebecca was asked for her thoughts on the ‘new generation of models’ by Entertainment Tonight, to which she replied: “No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translates to revenue. So it is frustrating.
“I know a lot of people -- legitimate fashion people -- can’t stand it. Hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels.
“And the thing is, I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way, not be a follower. I rely on Vogue to set the standard, not follow what everybody else is doing. So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards. But it will change; fashion always does.”
She later tweeted: “hey @kendalljenner @gigihadid don't believe the #clickbait. Never talked smack about you. Both amazing & beautiful”.
Yolanda, though, was already ready to step in and defend the two, writing on her own Twitter: “Kind, hard working and they accomplished more at half your age in the fashion industry”.
When someone not-so-kindly suggested that it was Gigi and Kendall’s famous families that got them their amazing success, Yolanda replied: “It's THEIR hard work and daily commitment to their profession that got them where they R today #NoParentsInvolved [sic]”.
Another, who defended Rebecca and told Gigi’s mumma that there was ‘no need for shade’, got a response from Yolanda which read: “did you even bother to see what she said on entertainment tonight? No need 2 throw shade on hard-working children”.
It all ended with Rebecca tweeting: “Woohoo! Twitter beef cherry popped! <3 you @YolandaHFoster @Andy”.
