The Cast Of Girls Have Released A PSA About Sexual Assault As A Dedication To The Stanford Rape Victim

Lena Dunham and her on-screen BFFs have released the touching clip in response to the Stanford rape case.

The sentencing of a former Stanford University swimmer who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman during a frat party has gone viral after a judge made the shocking decision to allow him to serve only six months in prison.

And while there havebeen many follow ups to the shocking sentence, including the attacker Brock Turner’s father claiming that he has already paid a ‘steep price for 20 minutes of action’ – this latest development has finally provided a touch of hopefulness to this horrible event.

The cast of Girls have released a PSA about sexual assault as a dedication to the now 23-year-old victim, and while it does involve sharing some distressing statistics about sexual assault against women, it’s important to carry on this conversation, no matter how uncomfortable it may be.

Since this news of Turner’s short sentence first came to light, there have been calls for the judge in the case, Aaron Persky, to be recalled.

Despite the fact that the prosecution recommended Turner face six years in prison, Persky only gave him six months, claiming that a longer sentence ‘would have a severe impact’ on the attacker.

In case you haven’t already, you can read the victim’s powerful letter to Turner here. We seriously recommend it.
