Ed steps up to the Pyramid Stage having last played in 2014...
After weeks of speculation, we can now rest easy knowing the final Glastonbury Festival 2017 headliner is...Ed Sheeran! Having first played the festival in 2011 ahead of the release of his first album +, in just six years Sheeran has gone on to become the biggest male artist on the planet and will step up to close this year's Glasto on the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night (25th June).
The 'Shape Of You' hit maker joins Radiohead and the Foo Fighters who will headline the festival on Friday and Saturday nights respectively.
Ed announced the news on Instagram ahead of the first show on his Divide tour which kicks off in Turin tonight. Paying homage to Worthy Farm, Ed projected some cows onto the screen on stage and said: "Hello from Turin, we're here, I'm starting the tour off today and I wanna make an announcement - I am headlining Glastonbury on the Sunday night which is awesome - there's some cows on a screen."
On the Glasto website it states that this will be Ed's only festival show this year, which means if you haven't managed to nab a ticket for his Divide tour yet, you better get crackin'.
In other Ed news, ÷, broke numerous records when it charted last Friday. His third album became the fastest-selling album from a male artist EVER and the entirety of the tracklisting ended up in The Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart. Immense.
