Foo Fighters Announced As Glastonbury 2017 Saturday Night Headliners

The band revealed the news with a surprise gig in Frome, Somerset...

They're back! Having had to pull out of their 2015 appearance following Dave Grohl's broken leg, Foo Fighters have just been revealed as the Saturday night headliners of Glastonbury Festival 2017. They'll be topping the bill on the Pyramid Stage on 24th June, and are the only act so far announced aside from Friday night headliner Radiohead.

This week the band have been inviting fans to 'board' Obelisk Airlines on a customised website. After choosing a seat, tonight it led to a live stream of the band playing a surprise gig in Frome, Somerset.

Glastonbury then confirmed the news via Twitter and on their website with Emily Eavis saying:

"Well, what an extraordinary week! We’re incredibly lucky to have the Foo Fighters headlining on the Saturday night this year – it was obviously devastating when they had to pull out in 2015 – and the thought, effort and generosity they’ve put into this announcement is just unbelievable.

"Plus, I’m so happy that we’ve been able to help shine a light on Somerset’s local music scene by having one of the world’s biggest bands play in Frome. The Cheese And Grain is a wonderful, not-for-profit venue, which I’m very proud to be a patron of, and it was our first suggestion when the band asked where might be good to do a secret show. They’ve certainly put it on the map now!"

The festival news has been coming thick and fast this week. Wireless boasted The Weeknd, Skepta and Chance The Rapper, Lovebox added Chase & Status, Solange, Jamie xx and Jess Glynne, the 2017 Creamfields line up is just ridiculous, and this morning Reading and Leeds today unveiled Eminem as their final headliner.

Can we go to them all please?
