Glastonbury Festival Wins New 10-Year Licence
Britain's most-famous musical gathering will run until at least 2024...
Music fans can rest easy today at the news that the Glastonbury Festival is likely to be with us for at least another decade.
The iconic event has been granted a fresh 10-year licence by Mendip District Council - so will now run until 2024.
The number of tickets is set to be pegged at the existing level of 135,000 - but staff and performer numbers will be allowed to increase from 25,500 to 63,000 over the period of the licence.
This year's event is being held from 25 to 29 June and acts already confirmed include Lily Allen, Arcade Fire, Blondie, Disclosure and Dolly Parton.
It has previously missed a year here and there, but now looks set to continue on an annual basis.
