Castmate Jenna Ushkowitz wrote "…here we go!" while Darren Criss tweeted "Annnnnnnnnd back to work."

The show's co-creator Brad Falchuk noted Cory Monteith's absence from the set, posting a photo of the empty classroom in a tweet that read: "Day one season five. Something very big missing but everyone is happy to be together and back to work."

Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room last month, with the British Columbia Coroners Service later confirming he died of "mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol."

Fox president of entertainment Kevin Reilly recently revealed that the cast will film a tribute episode for Cory that "will deal directly with the incidents involved in Cory's passing and the drug abuse in particular."
