10 Craziest Godzilla Moments Of All Time
Bet you didn’t know Godzilla could fly…
By Gary Oden
The new Godzilla film from director Gareth Edwards is released on May 15th and it’s shaping up to be a blinder. Whether it’s good or not (it will be good), we doubt it’ll contain any of the following crazy things that have happened in Godzilla movies past…
Godzilla greets his human ‘friend’ in the only way he can in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
Look, no matter how much you think that you might be ‘friends’ with a giant radioactive lizard, chances are, you feel a little bit more strongly about him than he does you. Nope? Still don’t believe us? Well, watch the above clip and just see what happens.
Godzilla talks in Godzilla vs. Gigan
The above clip is a mix of the American dubbed version and the original Japanese film. In the Japanese version, you merely see the speech bubbles (which is bad enough), but in the US edit, for some reason unknown to humankind, they decided to ditch the speech bubbles and actually have Godzilla audibly talk. In an old lady’s voice. Terrible.
Godzilla flies in Godzilla vs. Hedorah
Of course Godzilla can fly - that atomic breath of his will do just about anything. However, we’re not entirely sure what the horrendous music does to highlight the situation…
Fish mask dance party in Godzilla vs. Hedorah
Godzilla doesn’t actually feature in this moment, but it’s way too weird not to include. In fact, we’re not even sure we can adequately describe what’s going on. Just watch. Then shake your head. Then rub your eyes. Probably a good idea to have a cold shower too.
Godzilla executed a flying double kick in Godzilla vs. Megalon
That tail of Godzilla’s is strong isn’t it? It’s also MAGIC, clearly. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE? HELP US UNDERSTAND.
Godzilla does a victory dance in Invasion Of Astro-Monster
You know, sometimes when you’ve just defeated a giant three-headed flying dragon monster, it’s hard to keep calm. Sometimes you’ve just gotta let it all out. Set yourself free Godzilla, and dance like nobody’s watching. There, that’s better.
Baby Godzilla plays with a giant skipping rope in Son Of Godzilla
If somehow you can ignore how utterly ludicrous Baby Godzilla looks in this scene, we bet you won’t be able to ignore how insane it is that he’s using his dad’s tail as a skipping rope. This actually happens - this whole movie is completely crazy.
Godzilla kills ‘Zilla’ in Godzilla: Final Wars
Now this is actually quite cool. After Hollywood remade Godzilla to less than favourable reviews from just about everybody, obviously Japan weren’t too pleased. So, to get revenge (and s**t on the remake even more), they included the US version of Godzilla in their next movie (called merely ‘Zilla’ - he’s not worthy of the ‘God’ tag), and had their very own Japanese Godzilla merk the hell out of him in record time. Well done.
Godzilla destroys a giant meteor in Godzilla: Final Wars
As we said, that atomic breath of his can do just about ANYTHING.
King Kong throws some rocks at Godzilla in King Kong vs. Godzilla
LOOK AT HIS SILLY ARMS. LOLZ.
