Gonzo’s Great Escape Announced
The Subways, Vampire Weekend and The Wombats will headline MTV Twos dates in Brighton
The headliners for Gonzo On Tour at the Great Escape have been revealed with tip top indie acts set to play Brighton for MTV Two in May.
Three-piece The Subways, New Yorks coolest band Vampire Weekend and chart bothering Liverpudlian rockers The Wombats are lined up for our three dates- hosted of course by Zane Lowe.
The gigs will take place May 15-17 at the Concorde 2 venue in Brighton as part of the renowned indie festival The Great Escape- which MTV Two partners.
Vampire Weekend have been lauded by critics for their debut album and African influenced Upper West Side Soweto sound. The band recorded a Spanking New Session back in November while the video to single A Punk is currently tearing up the MTV2 playlist.
The Wombats have had two massive singles with Lets Dance To Joy Division and Moving To New York. Their album A Guide To Love Loss and Desperation was a massive seller in 2007.
The Subways have been away for nearly two years working on the follow up to Young for Eternity. Bassist/ singer Charlotte and Brothers Josh and Billy have been in LA working on their second LP- expected to be called All Or Nothing.
Top notch support for our shows will be announced in the near future. The Young Knives, Lightspeed Champion, Ebony Bones and Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong are all playing gigs over the Spring weekend.
