Gotham Coming To Channel 5
Batman spin-off set to hit UK TV screens later this year...
Great news for superhero fans - Gotham, one of the most eagerly anticipated US TV shows of 2014, will air in the UK this autumn.
Channel 5 has confirmed that the DC Comics origins drama will hit UK TVs shortly after the show airs in the US on Fox beginning on 22 September.
Starring The OC star Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, the action is centred around his rise from cop to commissioner - starting with the case of the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
Working alongside experienced police officer Harvey Bullock (played by Donal Logue), Gordon meets the young Bruce Wayne, and vows to bring his parents’ killer to justice.
Along the way, he’ll be taking down some serious villains, including Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Carmine Falcone (John Doman).
And there will be more famous DC icons appearing in the upcoming series, including Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, played by Camren Bicondova, ‘Riddler’ Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith), and Oswald Cobblepot, who later becomes The Penguin, played by Robin Lord Taylor.
Meanwhile British actor Sean Pertwee has been cast as Wayne family butler Alfred Pennyworth.
Channel 5’s head of acquisitions Katie Keenan said: “I don’t think there was a more exciting show at the LA screenings this year - Gotham is a thrilling drama built on iconic characters that fascinate.
“Channel 5 is delighted to become the home of such a powerful, bold and visually stunning show. Its acquisition proves we continue to be committed to the biggest in US drama."
