GTA V has already broken a host of records for videogames and entertainment products in general - including grossing $1 billion quicker than any other product in history.

Kim Bayley of the Entertainment Retailers Association, responsible for the figures, said: "This is a stunning result after at least five years of decline.

"Retailers have invested hundreds of millions in new digital services and these numbers suggest the public are responding in droves."
