GTA V Is Fastest-Selling Videogame Ever In UK
New Rockstar title breaks record set by Call Of Duty: Black Ops...
Grand Theft Auto V is reported to have become the fastest-selling videogame ever to hit the UK.
The latest title from Rockstar Games sold a phenomenal 1.57 million units in its first 24 hours - and has already generated more than £65m in revenue according to Gfk Chart-Track.
The previous record was 1.41m units - which was notched-up by Call of Duty: Black Ops back in November 2010.
And Take-Two has announced that the series has taken a stonking $800m worldwide in 24 hours.
The publisher said that "it marks the highest first day retail sales of any title in the history of the company and the Grand Theft Auto series".
In other GTA V news, a councillor in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick has hit out at the game for besmirching his community's good name.
A district of the fictional city of Los Santos has been called Hawick in the game - and is described as having a "drug addict hipster vibe".
"I am horrified that they have put Hawick in a game like that," Digital Spy quoted councillor David Paterson as saying.
"Hawick is a lovely place and to see them do that is ridiculous. I'm totally disgusted.
"I've never even seen a gun in my life."
The title was created by Rockstar North, which is based in nearby Edinburgh.
