Guardians Of The Galaxy Gets Serious With New Trailer

Latest international promo takes a more subdued approach...

While the last main trailer to be dropped for Guardians Of The Galaxy suggested the movie was likely to be a jaunty knockabout romp in space, the latest promo takes quite a different track.

Marvel Studios yesterday released the second UK trailer for the eagerly anticipated ensemble piece - and it has a much-more sombre mood than the last one we saw.

Brooding music sees Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and the film's CGI characters introduced again, and the full gravity of the challenge facing them (saving the universe, basically) outlined.

"We will not stand by as evil wipes out billions of lives," vows Pratt's character Peter Quill (aka Star Lord).

And he later asks: "If we don't protect the galaxy, who will?"

However moments of levity are introduced toward the end of the trailer, with a bit of back-and-forth between Pratt and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper).

The film arrives in cinemas on 31 July in the UK.
