Gwen Stefani Confirmed As New Coach On The Voice

Carson Daly makes dramatic announcement during live show

After weeks of speculation and a leaked announcement - it has finally been confirmed that Gwen Stefani will be heading to The Voice USA as the fourth coach.

Stefani will be taking Christina Aguilera’s place on the seventh series of the US version of The Voice and will be working alongside new coach Pharrell Williams and show veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

The announcement was made live on air last night by Carson Daly, who said:“Before we start the show, I want to make a very, very big announcement for us here - hold on, listen! This all just happened moments ago, because we're live, and we're very happy to officially announce that two superstars will be joining the next season in these coaches' chairs: Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani will be added to the Voice family.”

Gwen and Pharrell will make their debuts on 5 May, and as a treat for the viewers will be performing live. Williams will perform his new single Come Get It Bae, and Stefani will no doubt thrill us with a new version of Hollaback Girl produced by her co-coach Williams.

More than anything we can’t wait to see how the new dynamics will work between the judges, Christina and Adam Levine had a famously rocky relationship, and Gwen is feisty and outspoken - so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Stefani also took to Instagram to confirm the news herself with a picture of a black-fingernailed hand (presumably her own) holding a microphone and the caption: "It's true! @nbcthevoice"
