Games fans have been treated to a selection of gameplay images from long-awaited first-person shooter Halo 4.
The batch of fresh screengrabs released by Microsoft Games reveal the title's playing area as the Ragnarok map - a re-imagined version of the popular Valhalla map from Halo 3.

There is also a first glimpse of the "mantis" - a walking tank-like vehicle which towers over the players.
Set four years after the end of Halo 3, the new game will see the return of Master Chief and will feature dedicated single and multi-player campaigns.
The game will be available exclusively on Xbox 360 from 6 November.
