The Han Solo Star Wars Spin-off Movie Will Be A WESTERN

And Emilia Clarke has joined the cast!

Star Wars producer Katherine Kennedy has dropped a couple of tidbits concerning what we can expect from the upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie, and apparently the new film is going to feel like a Western. Or a space-Western, to be more accurate…

“This moves closer to a heist or Western-type feel," says Kennedy. "We've talked about [Frederic] Remington and those primary colours that are used in his paintings defining the look and feel of the film.”

If you’re not big on your Remington knowledge (God, where have you BEEN?), his paintings tend to be big, expansive vistas of the Old West landscape. Imagine Tattooine, but with cowboys rather than Jedi Knights.

Sadly, Kennedy wasn’t giving anything away about Emilia Clarke’s character, with the Game Of Thrones star having joined the cast earlier in the week. The initial casting announcement listed her as “one of a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures”.

Hopefully we’ll get a few more clues on that score in the coming weeks.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, the as-yet-untitled film will hit our screens on 25 May 2018.
