The Harry Potter game will come out in 2019.

Remember that Pokémon Go-style Harry Potter game we told you about? Well, you'll have to wait a little longer, Potter fans - it's been delayed until next year.

Just in case you missed the news the first time around, the people behind smash mobile game Pokémon Go aremaking a brand new augmented reality (AR) game inspired by the world of Harry Potter.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will use state-of-the-art augmented reality mobile technology to "put magic in the hands of aspiring wizards and witches worldwide". This means that the AR game will show video game-generated characters in the real world, just like Pokémon Go.

Wizards Unite has now been pushed back to 2019, though. To soften the blow, though, Niantic has released a cute little teaser to whet our appetites. It shows an apprentice playing with a Snitch in a real-world setting, before taking cover from… well, we're not sure, exactly, but it sounds pretty big from those footsteps…

"Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is coming in 2019, and traces of magic appearing in the Muggle world," says the video description. "Get a small tease of what's to come in this Pokemon Go-like game coming to mobiles in 2019."

“Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will reveal that magic is all around us,” the press release said at the time of the original announcement. “By exploring real-world neighbourhoods and cities across the globe, players will go on adventures, learn and cast spells, discover mysterious artifacts, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters.”

"The Ministry is looking for witches and wizards willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to save the wizarding world from the Calamity. As a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force (a new task force formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards) you will hone lightning fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells."
