Dumbledore Will Have A ‘Sensual’ Scene With Grindelwald In Fantastic Beasts 2

His sexuality *will* be addressed in the movies after all.

It looks like Dumbledore’s sexuality *will* be addressed in the new Fantastic Beasts film after the director has clarified his earlier comments that the wizard wouldn’t be “explicitly gay” in the plot.

In an interview with Empire magazine, David Yates insisted that his previous (and quite controversial) remarks were taken out of context, saying: “In that earlier interview, I didn’t say Dumbledore’s not gay. He is.”

“This part of this huge narrative that Jo is creating doesn’t focus on his sexuality, but we’re not airbrushing or hiding it," he continued. So basically, even though Dumbledore is "not out as a gay man in this film," his sexuality isn’t going to be a secret to viewers.

“A couple of scenes we shot are very sensual moments of him and the young Grindelwald,” he said.

"The story [of their romance] isn’t there in this particular movie but it’s clear in what you see… that he is gay. [The Crimes of Grindelwald] is about other things, fundamentally, but the story of Grindelwald and Dumbledore, going forward, that is the story."

While J.K Rowling never made any allusions to Dumbledore’s sexuality in all seven of her books, she later announced in 2007 that she had always imagined the character as a gay man.

Jude Law, who plays a young Dumbledore in the series, recently said something similar toEntertainment Weekly: "There's only so much I can reveal. But it's no secret that there was an incredibly intense relationship shared by these two in the past."

Bring it on.
