Harry Potter Fans Have Been Pronouncing Lord Voldemort’s Name Wrong This Entire Time
Harry Potter fans have been left questioning their entire lives after JK Rowling has come forward to admit that Lord Voldemort’s name should never have been pronounced the way it is in the movies.
It turns out that even the most hardcore supporters of her universe have spent the past twenty years (!!) pronouncing the t at the end of his name, when they should have been letting the word roll off their tongue instead.
That’s right, Twitter account List25 revealed: “#DidYouKnow Contrary to popular belief, the ‘t’ at the end of Voldemort is silent. The name comes from the French words meaning ‘flight of death’.”
The author confirmed the correct pronunciation on Twitter back in 2015 after a fan messaged her saying: “One piece of Harry Potter trivia I always forget to mention: the ‘t’ is silent in Voldemort.”
She responded: “… but I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who pronounces it that way.”
This isn’t the only slice of wizard related information that has left the muggle world shook recently, with Rupert Grint (AKA Ron Weasley) revealing that he seriously considered quitting the series after filming Goblet Of Fire.
"I had just finished my GCSEs," he told The Independent. "I thought, 'Do I actually want to keep doing this? It's a bit of a drag. Because obviously, it's a big sacrifice. You take for granted anonymity, just doing normal stuff, just going out. Everything was different and a little bit scary. There were times when I was like, 'I'm done'."
We need a butterbeer and a hug.
