New Harry Potter Video Game Unveiled That Lets You Experience Life As A Hogwarts Student
A huge new Harry Potter video game is on the way. Here's everything you need to know.
Remember when we told you that the team behind Pokemon Go were making a new Harry Potter game for your phone? Well, turns out that's not the only Harry Potter game on the way - Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is also coming to a phone near you next year.
Interestingly, though they are being developed by different teams (this game is being made by Jam City) both games are being made under the careful eye of Portkey Games, which is a special department of Warner games team dedicated to making Harry Potter games.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is described as a narrative-based RPG (which means it's going to have a big story, and your decisions will impact on what happens in it).
"It’s the first mobile game in which players can create their own character and experience life as a student," says the announcement on Pottermore. "Once you’ve settled into the school, your character can move through the years while doing all the same things Hogwarts students do: taking part in Duelling Club, for example, or going to classes such as Potions and Defence Against the Dark Arts."
Apparently, the team at Jam City "know the wizarding world like the backs of their hands."
"As Harry Potter fanatics ourselves, we have great respect for the millions of people throughout the world who have followed the Harry Potter stories for more than 20 years," says Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City. "This game is a labour of love for our developers and artists, who are dedicated to creating the most magical entertainment and game play experience for everyone who adores J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World."
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is expected to release in 2018.
