The Sunday Times Rich List has revealed the top musical earners under 30...

The 2018 Sunday Times Rich List has been revealed and all the original One Direction members feature in the Richest UK & Ireland Musicians Under 30 category.

Since their hiatus Harry, Niall, Liam, Niall and Zayn (who departed the band previously) have all gone on to forge successful solo careers but Harry Styles has pulled out in front in the money stakes.

According to the rich list, Harry’s estimated wealth is £50m, up £10m on last year, and sees him place at No.3 in the richest musicians under 30 (UK & Ireland) list.

Niall Horan’s estimated wealth is £46m while Liam and Louis tie fifth with a worth of £42m each. Zayn places at No.8 with an estimated wealth of £35m.

Adele, who only just celebrated her 30th birthday last week, tops the lot with a worth of £140m, an increase of £15m on last year and Ed Sheeran places at No.2 with an estimated wealth of £80m, up £28m on the previous year.

Robert Watts, who compiles the Sunday Times Rich List, said: "For years our music millionaires list has been dominated by older acts, such as the Rolling Stones and Sir Elton John, who have an older audiences able to pay a premium to see their favourite acts.

"But some of the biggest risers over the past year have been amongst younger acts such as Ed Sheeran, Adele and Calvin Harris.

"Streaming services, the internet and income from endorsements are helping today's young musicians build an international following - and with it their fortunes - far quicker than the older rockers."
