Your Skinny Jeans Might Actually Be Messing Up Your Back

Skinny jeans contribute to back pain.

If pulling on a pair of skinny jeansis as entrenched in your morning routine as brushing your tooth or scrolling through Instagram, we've got some news that will have you looking into your wardrobe with a degree of suspicion.

Even though they've been known topropelthe most basicoutfit into looking half-decent, skinny jeans have been named and shamed in a study by theBritish Chiropractic Associationabout what causes back pain.

As unexpected as it is, the product comes out top in the list of fashion accessories that contribute to back ache, beating out oversized bags, hooded coats, and backless shoes to the number one spot.

Revealing that the problem with skinnies centres around their constraining shape, a chiropracter called TimHutchful saidthey “restrict free movement in areas such as the hips and knees" and "affectthe way we hold our bodies."

Honestly, we can see where he's coming from.

Even so, the researchers are keen to point out that wearing skinnies every now and then isn't going to have you buying out the entire stock of Deep Heat soothing cream.

Providing you aren't sealed into the tightest jeans humanly possible for twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, there's probably no need to torch your entireskinny collection.
