Heath Ledger Gets Golden Globe Nomination

AND a load of British stars are also up for the big awards

Heath Ledger has been posthumously nominated for a Golden Globe award for his role in Batman film The Dark Knight.

The star- who died from an accidental drugs overdose in January- is up for Best Supporting Actor at the pre-Oscars ceremony.

British actors also figure highly on the list with Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench and Emma Thompson all nominated for TV or movie roles over the last 12 months.

Three British men are up for Best Director: Danny Boyle (for Slumdog Millionaire), Stephen Daldry (The Reader) and Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road)

The ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on January 11 with the winners giving some idea of who could take home Oscars a month later.
