Apology And Payout Over Fake Holly 'Upskirt' Pic

Tabloid makes front-page apology and pays damages to TV presenter....

Holly Willoughby has accepted an apology and a payment for damages from the Sunday Sport over a fake "upskirt" picture of herself.

The TV presenter had objected to the Press Complaints Commission after the downmarket tabloid published an image of a woman's bum and underwear as she climbed into a car - claiming it was Holly.

But it has now run an apology on its front page, explaining it had used a picture of another woman to "create the illusion it was Holly".

Holly said in a statement: "I am delighted that the Sunday Sport has on its front page informed its readers that they were misled about the 'up-skirt' picture they published which the paper said was of me, and made a fulsome apology.

"The Sunday Sport also paid me damages along with my legal fees. I am donating my damages to the wonderful charity of which I'm a patron, Together For Short Lives, which at least means that something good has come out of this unpleasant episode."

The undisclosed sum has been put at four figures.
