Hugh Jackman Returning To Broadway Stage

X-Men star set to appear in intimate three-hander in the Big Apple...

Hugh Jackman is set to return to the stage later this year, it has been revealed.

The X-Men: Days Of Future Past star will be starring alongside Laura Donnelly and Cush Jumbo in a Broadway play called The River - written by British playwright Jez Butterworth.

The three-hander will be directed by Ian Rickson and is set in "a remote cabin on the cliffs".

But fans of the multi-talented thesp will have to move fast once tickets go on sale for the New York shows, because the play will be staged in the intimate 776-seat Circle In The Square theatre - which has a "thrust" stage surrounded on three sides by the audience.

Previews for the play are set to begin on 31 October, with the opening night scheduled for 16 November. It will have a limited 13-week run and will end on 25 January, 2015.

Jackman, 45, will be hosting the Tony Awards this summer - and is himself a former winner for 2003's The Boy From Oz.

Meanwhile, the new X-Men movie is released on 22 May in the UK.

Jackman revealed this week that he has been treated for skin cancer a second time.
