Ibiza Rocks LCD Soundsystem Review
With support from Sunshine Underground
Leeds based indie boys Sunshine Underground kicked another night of festivities off at Ibiza Rocks with their funky, effects-heavy rock.
Despite still being relatively unknown the band quickly won over the early audience with a sound reminiscent of Delphic and The Music, and put their previous live experience playing festivals and supporting LCD on tour to good use.
Taking the stage to be greeted by a highly enthusiastic audience, James Murphy and the rest of LCD Soundsystem opened strongly with a rousing version of Us Vs Them - before crashing into recent singalong hit Drunk Girls.
After losing a little momentum with Get Innocuous and Pow Pow, the band stepped up a gear with a storming take on their ‘radio hit’ (as Murphy described it) Daft Punk Is Playing In My House and an electrifying All My Friends.
From then on the pace was relentless, with new single I Can Change giving way to one of the night’s highlights in the form of early single Tribulations, and the track that started it all – Losing my Edge.
There have been rumours that this current tour could well be LCD’s last in its current form, but as the crowd sung along with the closing New York I Love You (including a take on Alica Keys’ Empire State Of Mind), you couldn’t help but hope that the Soundsystem will continue for as long as possible.
