Idina Menzel Reveals Her Reaction To John Travolta Oscar Flub
The star was 'Frozen' after he mispronounced her name...
Idina Menzel found herself 43 million news fans when she sang at the Oscars last month. Although thanks to John Travolta's introduction, most now know her by the name “Adela Dazeem”.
But the Frozen star – who has been at number one on the US Billboard charts for eight consecutive weeks with the film’s track Let It Go – has forgiven Travolta for flubbing her name at the most prestigious awards ceremony in the world.
“I don’t want keep talking about it because I don’t want him to feel worse or anything, ‘cause he sent lots of apologies,” she said during an appearance on US programme The Today Show.
Travolta sparked a wave of headlines and memes when he inexplicably mis-pronounced Idina’s as "Adela Dazeem" while introducing her performance of ‘Let It Go’ at the awards show, and the singer admits the flub froze her for a second.
"I had done this whole preparation to make sure that I really was in my body and didn't get too nervous," she explained.
"So I was picturing my son Walker, I thought, 'Let me just sing it to him' like we do in the bathtub ... and (Travolta) said my name like that and I was like, 'Did that just happen?'"
“Then the orchestra started and then for eight seconds, I said, 'Get your s*** together! And like, stop worrying about your name and sing this song!' So it took me about eight seconds to get over myself."
