Idris Elba 'Wanted By Sony As Next James Bond'
Former star of The Wire reportedly sought to replace Daniel Craig...
Sony Pictures are reported to be targeting Idris Elba as the next James Bond.
The star of The Wire and the Thor movies has often been tipped to take over from Daniel Craig - and become the first black 007.
And now The Daily Beast claims that a leaked email from studio co-chairman Amy Pascal indicates that she agrees!
She is quoted as writing: "Idris should be the next bond."
Pascal is claimed to have made the comment to Elizabeth Cantillon, a former exec at Columbia Pictures - which distributes the Bond franchise.
And we wouldn't bet against it happening because Elba, 42, has previously admitted that he would "love" to play Ian Fleming's superspy.
Daniel Craig is currently contracted to appear in one more Bond movie after next year's Spectre - and has indicated that he'll be happy to quit then.
