David Haye Finishes Third On I'm A Celebrity
Show favourite voted off one day before final in shock twist...
The heavyweight boxer was evicted from the contest in a surprise twist last night - meaning that Charlie Brooks and Ashley Roberts will face off in the final this evening.
Haye, who had been the bookies' favourite to win and the most popular camp mate among the contestants, was upbeat when he spoke to show hosts Ant and Dec on his departure.
He said: "Freedom at last. I didn’t think in a million years I'd get this far. This has been the best thing I've done.
"It was coming out of my comfort zone - here you are just laid bare - everybody gets to see the real you.
"Other than the lack of food it's been so much fun. I've met great people here."
But he refused to pick a favourite from the two remaining ladies, saying: "Ash is a really good girl. Charlie is another super-positive person — I want them both to win."
And Haye was given a fitting send-off when he volunteered to do the "Well Of Hell" Bushtucker Trial - being lowered into a shaft in a bucket and having to poke his hands into holes which contained stars and creatures.
Despite being bitten by a bandicoot, which he said "gnawed" on his hand, he persevered to get the six stars - ensuring full rations for dinner.
Eric Bristow finished fourth in the contest.
