Is Jimmy Bullard Bullying I'm A Celebrity Jake?
Former footballer slips in betting odds after comments to Jake Quickenden...
There's a fine line between "banter" and bullying - and many viewers of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! reckon Jimmy Bullard just crossed it.
The retired professional footballer had been the favourite to win this year's series of the jungle-based reality show, but has now been replaced by X Factor junk Jake Quickenden as the bookies' choice.
Fans had been dismayed to see him react angrily to Jake's joke that he might be mistaken for 68-year-old newsman Michael Buerk.
Jimmy lashed out: "What the f*** is this p**** doing in here? What's he offering?
"Why the f*** are you in here? What are you? What sort of skill have you got?"
And former motorbike racer Carl Fogarty (aka Foggy) said he was taken aback by the ferocity of the attack.
"Jimmy was proper on one," he told the camera.
"It was getting a bit heated and a bit nasty I thought. He was proper putting Jake down. He is kind of only joking but I thought it was going a bit close to the bone. I was cringing.
"Jake has never claimed to be anyone and is a nice guy. Jimmy’s banter, you have got to be quite tough to take it, if you know what I mean."
Viewers have also seen Jake triumph over Foggy in the latest Bushtucker Trial - winning dinner for his team.
However nice guy Jake had mixed feelings about his victory for the Galah team, which he has recently joined.
"I'm used to being a Wombat and I know they haven't eaten, so it's kind of hard because Foggy and Jimmy are my two best mates in there.
"So for us to take meals away, it's not nice but I'm absolutely hank. I can't wait to eat."
Jake is now listed at 6/4 favourite to win, ahead of Melanie Sykes at 4/1 and Bullard at 9/2.
