It's taken more than a week, but finally we've had our first proper ding-dong on this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

It was former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson and ex-politician Edwina Currie who clashed when Currie took exception to Wilkinson's philosophy on life.

The American had declared to Michael Buerk: "If you live in a moment and you do what you believe is right, what is healthiest, happiest and best for you in your life, you'd better own that and say, 'I'm proud of myself, I have faith, this is me, this is my decision, this is my life.'

"You should never live your life for other people, ever."

Currie wasn't impressed with the "pure selfishness" she was hearing and told her so.

“Count me out. I don't agree with you. You can't say you should never ever live your life for other people ever.

"Sometimes you have to make decisions that benefit others but put you at a disadvantage. You're a mother. I'm sorry, sometimes you put other people first."

However Wilkinson responded furiously: "You're not seeing the heart of what we're saying. Shut the f**k up and get the f**k out of our conversation because you're not seeing the heart of it.

"Heartless ass politician. Shut the f**k up. She can't even see that I'm trying to be a good person here."

But Currie wasn't prepared to be shouted down and persisted in her criticism.

"I challenged a statement that we should always live for ourselves," she asserted.

"A lot of people a lot of the time choose to live for others and we should admire and respect that. It's a higher calling than living for ourselves.

"Kendra, you can't dominate me so don't try. I'm allowed to disagree with everybody here.

"We're all free people, we live in a free society and we're allowed to disagree."

And she later explained herself further when talking to the camera in the "bush telegraph".

"I was lying quietly on the bed, listening to Kendra extolling a philosophy that sounded to me like pure selfishness.

"Had I known she was going to blow up in the way she did, I might have phrased it slightly differently. The last thing I wanted to do was upset her but it was like putting a taper to a rocket and off she went."

Wilkinson has also revealed in a chat with Melanie Sykes that she slept with Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner when she was 18 - and he was 78.

"He asked me to be one of his girlfriends and I was like I don't know what that means but hell yeah I'm there.

"I was living in the smallest apartment with the ugliest **** and I was praying for anything to get me out of there.

"I was just curious about the girlfriends because he's always got more than one and wondered if you have to do him?

"You're not obligated it's your choice."

A surprised Carl Fogarty interrupted to ask: "When you say girlfriends, do they all sleep with him then or what?"

And she answered: "Yes… I was only 18 at the time and he was 78."

To which the ex-motorbike racer quipped: "And they say romance is dead."
