No need to worry about Liam Hemsworth sitting round twiddling his thumbs once his duties on The Hunger Games are over.

The Aussie hunk has just been cast in another blockbuster sequel - the long-awaited follow-up to 1996 sci-fi drama Independence Day.

Filmmaker Roland Emmerich took to social media to break the news that Hemsworth will be joined by original star Jeff Goldblum in the new movie.

He wrote: "'First you strategically position your pieces, and when the time is right, you strike.' Excited to officially announce Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum as the next two pieces of the Independence Day sequel!"

Jessie Usher has been cast as the son of Will Smith's character from the first movie - but there's still no news of a Big Willy comeback.

The film is set for release next June - 20 years after the original!
