Iron Man 3 Beats Avengers On Opening Weekend
Latest Marvel Studios blockbuster has bigger start than last year's top movie...
The comic book movie threequel opened in most markets apart from the US at the weekend - and Marvel Studios estimates that it has taken £126m, marginally more than last year's Marvel superhero ensemble movie.
Parent company Disney revealed that the film had done best in the UK, followed by South Korea, Australia, Mexico and France.
And the film is expected to rack up another $100m-plus when it opens Stateside on Thursday too. It is also set to open in Germany, China and Russia later this week.
Big movies frequently open in other countries before the US because the international market is bigger than the domestic one for the US-based movie studios.
Gwyneth Paltrow last week hinted that the current Iron Man movie would be the last in the series.
