Iron Man 3 Stars Hit London Premiere

Robert Downey Jr makes a dramatic entrance in Leicester Square...

Robert Downey Jr made a big entrance at last night's London premiere of Iron Man 3, appearing on a smoke-filled stadium in true Tony Stark style.

Having fired up the fans in Leicester Square, he then threw his sunglasses into the crowd and ran down the steps to join his co-stars.

With the notable exception of Gwyneth Paltrow - who attended the Tiffany & Co Blue Book Ball in New York - all the stars of the superhero sequel walked the red carpet.

And RDJ - rocking a suit and grey trainers - was happy to pose for photographs with Brit co-stars Ben Kingsley and Rebecca Hall.

It is Downey Jr's third outing as Iron Man, and the movie - which sees [uuid=5aa2efeb-0e17-46a4-97b8-886f20fd7215]Stark "traumatised"[/uuid] - features two new villains in the form of Mandarin (Kingsley) and Aldrich Killian, played by Guy Pearce.

Despite the success of the Marvel franchise, it seems Robert is not sure about the future.

Speaking to Sky News at the premiere yesterday, he said: "Right now the future is uncertain, but I think it's very important that we end this first Marvel phase in a way that is definitive and has people asking questions."

Downey Jr confirmed this week that he had [uuid=d0b1f0c5-86e7-4598-a486-95215cce8bd3]banked $50 million[/uuid] for his role as Stark in The Avengers.

Iron Man 3 is on general release in the UK on 25 April.
