Robert Downey Jr: 'No Plans For Iron Man 4'
Star pours cold water on fans' hopes for a fourth instalment of film franchise...
As soon as Iron Man 3 was released last year its stars were being asked whether they'd be up for a fourth instalment of the Marvel superhero's adventures.
They were evasive on the subject then, and Robert Downey Jr has now indicated that fans shouldn't be getting their hopes up for another standalone film anytime soon.
Asked about the prospect by Variety at the Toronto Film Festival, he was pretty blunt in reply: "There isn't one in the pipe.
"No, there's no plan for a fourth Iron Man."
And when asked if he'd allow another actor to play Tony Stark, he sidestepped the question by answering: "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel."
His co-star Gwyneth Paltrow has previously indicated that Iron Man 3 would be the end of the series.
