The Chainsmokers, DNCE, Jonas Blue & RAYE Throw Epic Party For 50,000 People At Isle Of MTV 2017

Last night (27th June) Malta played host to the 11th Isle Of MTV where tens of thousands of party people gathered in the blistering afternoon sunshine in the island's historic Il-Fosos Square for our annual free event featuring chart-topping talent and the best breaking new acts.

The Isle Of MTV hall of fame includes the likes of Lady Gaga, Black Eyes Peas, Martin Garrix, Jason Derulo, Enrique Iglesias, Rita Ora, Dizzee Rascal and more, who have turned up the heat for over a decade in the Mediterranean setting and this year's line up was another belter.

Following a warm up from our Club MTV DJs R3WIRE & Varski and local act The Travellers, MTV Brand New For 2017 nominee RAYE hit the stage in a rainbow top and shorts proving why she's on everyone's ones to watch list.

From giving us a cover of the Daniel Bedingfield garage anthem 'Gotta Get Thru This' to her feel-good single 'The Line,' and the absolute belter that was her feature on Jax Jones' 'You Don't Know Me', the Brit singer whipped up the crowd as the sun set on the gracious surroundings.

Next up, with music made for the 30+ degree heat, Jonas Blue brought his live show A-game complete with guest artists to the stage, debuting brand new tracks as well as his hits-after-hits 'Fast Car', 'Mama', 'By Your Side' (which RAYE gladly performed for us) and 'Perfect Strangers'.

Onto DNCE who began their set with a Star Wars intro. Yep. Baffling, but brilliant. The EMA-winning foursome exuded buckets of energy throughout their 60 minute set firing up the crowd with their funk-pop catalogue of tracks from their debut album as well as future hits including 'Kissing Strangers'.

For their finale it had to be their breakthrough smash 'Cake By The Ocean' which ended with Joe Jonas clambering on top of some very lucky fans.

Seeing the night to an epic close were electronic artists of the moment The Chainsmokers. A year since their Halsey collab 'Closer' dominated charts the world over, Drew and Alex jumped on they decks (and off!) for a 60 minute set of dancefloor insanity, proving their trajectory is still well on the rise.

Faves from their EPs including 'All We Know', 'Inside Out' and 'Roses' were sung by Drew while Alex mashed up the breakdowns with some devastating basslines. But 'Closer' and 'Something Just Like This' were the obvious highlights of a set packed with pyros and smoke to make this one a show to rival their biggest festival appearances to date.
