No sooner has Michelle Keegan left the role in Coronation Street that made her famous than her crown as soap's sexiest lady has been usurped.

And it's sultry EastEnders siren Jacqueline Jossa who was last night given the title at the Inside Soap Awards - although unfortunately she couldn't attend as she's pregnant and was putting her feet up at home.

[related]The 21-year-old star said in a statement: "It's quite nice to have that kind of label considering I'm pregnant, it's fabulous!

"I think this has been my favourite year at EastEnders, it's been really, really fun. It's been nice to be a part of it all – it's a nice feeling. And there's so much exciting stuff coming up!"

Jossa's win is the first time the gong has been prised from Keegan's iron grip for six years!

The actress, who plays Lauren Branning, is pregnant with The Only Way Is Essex star BF Dan Osborne's child.

Meanwhile a host of soap stars DID turn out for the bash at DSTRKT nightclub in old London town.

Carley Stenson, Stephanie Waring and Sophie Austin were among those gracing the red carpet.

As were Corrie's Nikki Sanderson and Gaynor Faye and Emmerdale's Michelle Hardwick, Laura Norton and Natalie Anderson.

EastEnders was the big winner though - getting the best soap gong plus best actor for Danny Dyer.

He said: "I think I've found my calling, this is my game.

"I've been in this game for a long time and had nothing, so winning this has been a strange feeling for me.

"I grew up watching this, so to join it after it had lost its way for a while... I feel like the new signing in a football team."
