Jaden Smith & Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig Are Working On A “Vibey” New Project #Vibes

Jude Law has revealed all, and it definitely sounds vibey. VIBES CONFIRMED.

Our first whiff of #vibes came back in 2015. It was a bright day in June, and the clocks were striking seven. Vampire Weekend’s frontman, Ezra Koenig, posted a picture alongside modern philosopherJaden Smith-of "How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real"Twitter fame -with acaption reading, “things are bubbling in the sea beneath 14th street.”

It peaked our curiosity.

“Ezra and a fan,” someone commented on the photo. How mistaken 'SartoriallyInc' was. They were promptly corrected. “Lol u know it's jaden and a fan,” Ezra replied.

It was the moment Tim Berne-Lee create the www for. But since then, what news have we had about this collaboration?Nada. Zilch. Bloody 'nothing'. Until now.

Last week, Koenig posted an update about the new Vampire Weekend album on Instagram, where he also mentioned that he spent 2015 – the same year Jaden and a fan met - working “on a vibey project you’ll hear abt soon.”

That vibey project? According to Jude Law, Young Pope himself, it’s an animated series written and conceived by Koenig, starring Jaden Smith in the lead role.

Speaking in an interview with TimesTalks, Law said, “I was just part of a really eccentric and exciting project that Ezra Koenig, who’s the lead singer of Vampire Weekend — he wrote and conceived this animated series that’s about to start, I believe on Netflix, called Neo Yokyo.”

“I think Jaden Smith is playing this little boy called Kai in it, and I’m his butler. I’m this kind of huge robot butler called Charles, who is also a rocket ship. And it takes place in a New York that is sort of combined with Tokyo in the future.”

Robot butler + rocket ship + New York/Tokyo hybrid =VIBES.
