Jake Bugghas announced the follow up to his 2012 debut album and unveiled a new single, What Doesn’t Kill You.
The album entitled Shangri La is out this November, with the Nottingham-born singer/songwriter naming the record after the Malibu studio where it was recorded with producer, Rick Rubin - who has worked with everyone from Jay Z and Kanye West to Lana Del Rey.
What Doesn’t Kill You received its first play last night on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show and sees Bugg pick up the electric guitar over his favoured acoustic.
Speaking to the DJ about the new album Jake explained how it was tracked live, saying: "I think you capture a bit of magic doing that, something you can't explain.”
The album comes after Bugg’s highly successful self-titled debut, with the singer adding: "It came quick but, for me, music's what I do to get away from stuff...
"Even though it’s been crazy, when I have time to myself, it's me picking up my guitar… I travelled lots and had some crazy experiences, so I had a lot to write about!"
The Lightning Bolt singer has completely sold out his upcoming UK tour after playing a series of festivals this year, including Glastonbury’s main Pyramid stage.
The 19-year-old spoke about the LA based Shangri La and the decision to name the new album after it: "It feels like its cut away from civilization." He added that it "felt right" to name the album after the studio.”
Jake Bugg is set to tour the UK next month beginning in Bournemouth (October 19) before finishing up in Manchester (November 13), Shangri La will be released November 18.
