Jake Gyllenhaal Opens Up About Heath Ledger's Death In Incredibly Emotional Interview
He was just 27 when Heath died.
Jake Gyllenhaal has opened up about Heath Ledger's death in a particularly emotional interview with People mag this week, and it's beyond heartbreaking.
The actor discussed the friendship he found in Heath when shooting Brokeback Mountain together in 2005, and how it changed his views on mortality and living in the bubble of the film industry.
"Personally, it affected me in ways I can’t necessarily put in words or even would want to talk about publicly," he said.
"I think you live in this bubble, too, of making films. There are real friends, and there is a real community," he said, adding that often it's the relationships that actors make which matter more than the success of a film.
"There is also that [new Macklemore song] where he says, 'The curtain closes and nobody notices' ... I think that's true, and I think that's okay.
"But I think at the time, I assumed everyone would notice – and they did with Heath dying, but I think it [gave me] the experience of, 'This is fleeting,'" he said
