James Arthur Hits Out At Matt Terry After Comments About Drug Users

The X Factor champions came close to a Twitter war but ultimately they say they love each other

James Arthur has hit out at Matt Terry after the current X Factor winner slated drug users.

The 28-year-old Say You Won’t Let Go hitmaker seemed to take offence with an interview Matt did shortly after his singing contest win.

Explaining how he intended to avoid traditional pitfalls of fame, Matt said: “I’ve never ever done drugs and I never will.”

He continued to The Mirror, saying: “I’m a strong-minded person and I will only do something if I want to do something."

And he added: “I come from a very grounded family - normal people - so for me it’s really important to stay who I am.”

The comments seemingly stuck a nerve with former X Factor champ James who has struggled with substance abuse in the past and was, for a time, written off as a X Factor cursed act.

Taking to Twitter, James wrote: “I aint cursed bro… I did some drugs and got lost yeah but even strong minded people do that.”

Perhaps wanting to avoid a full scale social media war (of which James has had many in the past) he added the hashtag “Love” after his comment.

And it seems Matt was keen not to offend James too – as he clarified his comments on Twitter in a reply.

“To me you’ve always been an inspiration #LOVEbackatya,” he wrote.

We’re glad to see these two winners getting along nicely!
