James Arthur Completes Remarkable Comeback By Claiming The Number One Spot With ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’

James Arthur is back in at Number One!

He was leading mid-week, but now James Arthur has officially capped off a pretty remarkable comeback by claiming the Number 1 Single spot in the Official Charts. Well done to him.

It’s the dream way to return for the former X Factor winner, who last held the top spot on the UK Singles Chart back in 2012 with ‘Impossible’.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, James said: “This is incredible… I wasn’t in any way expecting it. I knew it was a good song and I thought some people might like it, but if you’d said to me it would be this well received, I would have thought you were pulling my leg.”

Listen to James Arthur’s ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ below:

James has had a rocky few years since he won The X Factor way back in 2012, with the star being dropped by Simon Cowell’s Syco record label two years after his victory, following some controversy.

However, things are (clearly) looking up for the singer, as, along with his new Number One single, he’s now been re-signed by Syco Records.

‘Say You Won't Let Go’ will feature on Arthur's forthcoming second album, Back From The Edge, (do you reckon James Arthur really wants people to know that he’s having a comeback?), which will be released on 4 November.

The Official Singles Chart Top 5 is as follows:

1. James Arthur – ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’
2. The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey – ‘Closer’
3. The Weeknd ft. Daft Punk – ‘Starboy’
4. Calvin Harris – ‘My Way’
5. DJ Snake ft. Justin Bieber – ‘Let Me Love You’
