James Arthur On Course For Christmas No.1

X Factor winner is currently outselling Hillsborough charity single...

James Arthur could claim the coveted Christmas No.1 spot if his chart domination continues.

The X Factor 2012 winner's song Impossible [uuid=78d56b56-cba3-479c-aca1-99d27ee4307b]soared straight to the top of the official singles chart[/uuid] on Sunday (16th December) after selling a cool 490,000 copies and becoming the fastest-selling tune of the year.
According to the Official Charts Company, Arthur has now managed to shift a further 76,000 copies - meaning he could stop bookies' favourite He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother by The Justice Collective scoring the Xmas No.1.
The song - which has been released as a tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster - is currently 3,000 copies behind James.
Official Charts Company's managing director Martin Talbot explained: "While James Arthur has an early lead over The Justice Collective after just two days of sales, it is exceptionally tight – especially with Christmas gift purchases likely to impact on both releases as the week progresses."
He added: "It looks like being an extremely exciting race for this year's Official Christmas number one."
