The X Factor winner James Arthur has offered his support to fellow contestant Jahmene Douglas after the singer posted a worrying tweet.
Jahmene tweeted a lengthy message written on a notes app revealing very concerning feelings.
In the message the 26-year-old describes suicidal thoughts, causing fans and friends to worry.
Jahmene's post includes this distressing sentence, “When things are bad… it’s even worse. I’m ready to die.”
The young singer ended the letter with, “All I am ever left with is the desire to die. I don’t want it, but I do. That’s the inner battle. I’m scared the next time I try I will succeed because I have nothing in place anymore.”
Jahmene has previously spoken about his battle with depression, telling This Morning, “I’ve suffered with depression and I’m an anxious character. Even before The X Factor I was self-medicating quite a bit just to get myself through the day. When I was on the show, everything happened so quickly and I just wasn't prepared for the level of attention and scurrility that came with it. The whole thing was so bizarre and I didn't now how to deal with it. So I pressed the self-destruct button and it's as simple as that."
After seeing Jahmene’s tweet James Arthur publicly reached out to his pal on Twitter, telling Jahmene to answer his phone…
“@Jahmene Brother I’m here for you. Answer your phone. I know what you’re going through. Pick up.”
