James Arthur’s Mega Comeback Looks Set To Continue As He Charges Towards This Week’s Number 1 Spot
Can James Arthur do it?
James Arthur’s comeback single ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ came agonisingly close to the Number One spot last week, but just missed out to ‘Closer’ by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey.
It would’ve been the dream way to return for the former X Factor winner, who last held the top spot on the UK Singles Chart back in 2012 with ‘Impossible’.
But now the singer is on course to top the tally this Friday (September 30), as he’s currently occupying the top spot. Can James do it? Well that’s up to you, isn’t it? You, the Great British public. You’re entirely responsible for everything that happens in the charts. So if you want James to keep his grip on that top spot, go stream his music. Or – whisper it – you could actually buy the track. (If you really want to.)
James has had a rocky few years since he won The X Factor way back in 2012, with the star being dropped by Simon Cowell’s Syco record label two years after his victory, following some controversy.
However, things are (clearly) looking up for the singer, as he’s now been re-signed by Syco Records.
James told OfficialCharts.com of the track’s success: "It's literally insane. It’s such a whirlwind and I don’t think it has actually sunk in yet. The success of this song has gone way beyond my expectations and I am so grateful that people have connected with it.”
‘Say You Won't Let Go’ will feature on Arthur's forthcoming second album, Back From The Edge, (do you reckon James Arthur really wants people to know that he’s having a comeback?), which will be released on 4 November.
