James Arthur's 'Impossible' A Dead Cert For No.1

The X Factor winner has the fastest-selling single of 2012…

James Arthur’s Impossible is a dead cert to claim the Official UK No.1 this weekend, according to official midweek figures.

The X Factor winner has sold a staggering 254,000 copies of his debut single so far; a cool 216,000 copies clear of his only competition Will.I.Am Ft. Britney SpearsScream & Shout.

Not only has J-Arth become the fastest-selling X Factor winner in the show’s history, he’s now passed Cheryl Cole’s Call My Name to claim the fastest-selling single of 2012.
Chezza’s effort sold 152,000 copies in June this year but James is well on course to rival even Leona LewisA Moment Like This (571,000 copies) and Alexandra Burke’s Hallelujah (576,000).

Speaking to MTV.co.uk James said he’s “over the moon” with the reception, adding: “I couldn’t ask for a better start to my new career in music. I just want to keep the ball rolling and get more stuff out early next year.”

Elsewhere in the Top 10, after their performance on The X Factor final on Sunday, One Direction feature twice with Kiss You and Little Things at No.9 and No.10 respectively.

They’re not alone with the accolade though as Rihanna’s Stay enters the top 10 at No.8 while Diamonds lingers at No.6.

Over in the album chart Bruno Mars’ latest LP Unorthodox Jukebox looks set to swoop straight in to claim the No.1 away from Olly MursRight Place Right Time - which has slipped to No.4.

Michael Buble’s Christmas holds firm at No.2 while Emeli Sandes Our Version Of Events climbs back into third spot. Rihanna’s Unapologetic climbs one place to No.5.
