Idris Elba 'Had Talks To Be Next James Bond'
Current Bond girl claims The Wire star has already met producers...
James Bond movie franchise to discuss becoming the first black 007.
The star of The Wire is claimed by current Bond girl Naomie Harris to have been for talks with producer Barbara Broccoli to discuss taking over from Daniel Craig when he hangs up his tuxedo.
She told The Sun: "I didn't realise that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond.
"I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he's a great guy."
But he may have a bit of a wait, since Daniel Craig has already signed on for two more instalments after Skyfall.
Speaking on speculation that he could get the job last year, Elba said: "It's a rumour. I just don't want to be the black James Bond. Sean Connery wasn’t the Scottish James Bond, and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond."
We told you this morning how Daniel Craig admitted crying when he heard Adele's Skyfall theme song.
