Skyfall Becomes First $1bn Bond Film
Latest 007 flick passes landmark box office figure...
James Bond film to hit $1 billion in box office takings on its original release, passing the landmark figure during the Christmas period.
According to Digital Spy, the latest 007 outing - starring Daniel Craig - has already taken $289,600,000 (£179,280,032) in the US alone, with a further $710,600,000 (£439,904,665) earned across the globe
And Skyfall's earnings are expected to be boosted again when the movie opens in China in the New Year.
The Sam Mendes-directed film has also achieved another first - becoming the highest-grossing movie ever in the UK and has now made more than £100 million at British cinemas.
Daniel Craig's first appearance as Bond - in Casino Royale - was previously the biggest 007 earner, taking $596,365,000 (£369,186,244) in 2006.
Skyfall is scheduled for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 18 February.
