James Bond movie has taken just 40 days to beat the previous record, which was held by Daniel Craig has notched up ticket sales of £94,277,612 already, whereas Avatar took 11 months to reach £94,025,632.
Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli issued a statement saying: "We're overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema-going audiences in the UK who have made Skyfall the highest-grossing film of all time.
"We are very proud of this film and thank everybody, especially Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes, who have contributed to its success."
And the cash is continuing to roll in, with the film going back up to the top of the UK Box Office after a two-week spell when it was playing second fiddle to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
Skyfall took another £2.3m last week.
